For some, it’s the transition into college and away from home.  Or maybe it’s figuring out how to balance your emerging roles as partner, and parent. Perhaps, it’s facing an empty house after a difficult breakup.

As an eclectic, holistic therapist, I use a variety of evidenced-based treatments to help you make the changes you desire. I respect individual differences and appreciate the influence of cultural environment on one's identity and experiences. You don't have to suffer or do this alone anymore. Therapy can be a transformative experience, bringing you clarity, peace of mind, and a new sense of purpose.  It can help with anxiety, depression, trauma, as well as more subtle problems – like  feeling that "something is wrong" or that "I could be happier, but don't know how."

What to Expect from Therapy

As a therapist, I provide a warm, confidential space for adolescents and adults to explore and reshape their lives. We humans all have a natural inclination to grow, to heal our emotional pain, to find connection and joy. My goal is to help you recognize and challenge long-term beliefs, behavioral and relationship patterns, and habits that get in the way of your best, most authentic and satisfying life.I'll be curious about your experience, and we'll pay attention to what feels most important to you as we talk about your experiences, your thoughts and your feelings. Through this process you'll gain a deeper understanding of yourself. You'll also come to understand and appreciate your own strengths and resiliency.

I am warm, thoughtful, collaborative, and compassionate and believe that a safe and supportive therapy relationship is essential in easing feelings of discomfort and vulnerability that normally accompany change.

Individual Therapy

There are many reasons for someone to seek therapeutic help! Your reasons are as unique as you are, and I believe your therapy should be uniquely designed to meet your needs. I pull from a broad base of therapeutic methods to help my clients navigate the unique challenges and opportunities offered by their life's path.

Adolescent Counseling and College Transitions

Young people face unique challenges during their transition from childhood to adulthood. I particularly enjoy developing developmentally-appropriate therapeutic plans for my young adult clients.

LGBTQIA Therapy

Members of the LGBTQIA community have unique struggles in addition to the challenges we all face. I strive to offer sensitive and supportive assistance to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, and asexual clients.

The most important aspect of therapy is the trusting, supportive relationship between counselor and client.  I strive to treat each person entering my office with the respect and compassion they deserve. Therapy is an intense, personal journey and I take the trust placed in me very seriously. I have structured my practice in ways that honor and protect my clients.  To this end, I do not work with any insurance plans.  I believe that therapeutic decisions should be made solely between the client and therapist and that the confidential information shared with me should not be accessible to anyone else.

About Me

Like most people, my life has offered the unique challenges of ever-changing roles and new challenges. After earning my BSN at Florida State University, I spent several years as a practicing nurse before transitioning to a teaching position at Tallahassee Community College. I nurtured my love for community education by pursuing graduate work in Instructional Design, working with nonprofit and corporate groups to build educational programs that bring about positive change.
The decision to pursue a career in mental health was a natural outgrowth of all my professional experiences. I earned a Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health from CACREP-accredited Adams State University and completed national certification in counseling. In my counseling career, I have worked in both agency and private settings, with clients of all ages and backgrounds. I enjoy all the challenges presented by my client relationships, but my favorite work is with adolescents and individual adults, developing skills and techniques to help them overcome life's challenges and answer life's biggest and most important questions.
