Think of this as a kind of follow-up to last week’s post about social media increasing social intelligence.  A story in the Los Angelas Times this week reported that Facebook’s appeal to younger users may be fading.  Evidently these kids are looking for something newer and more mobile.  New mobile phone apps like Instagram appear to be drawing the attention of this bunch.

So, just when those of us in the over 40 set are catching on, it seems the social network is shifting again and the cool kids have moved on to a new hangout.  I wonder if they are trying to get away from us.  Is this the latest form of adolescent rejection of adult norms?  Could Facebook be turning into a “mom thing”? And, should we as adults try to keep up with the trends or let the kids have their space? Read the whole story here and let me know what you think.
